“400 years of charity in action: women serving, voices empowering, love transforming lives.”
We are a small organization based in Kobe, but we are constantly working to do what we can.
AIC-Japan

AIC, the International Association of Charity, is recognized as the world’s oldest women’s volunteer organization, with a history spanning nearly 400 years. Founded on the inspiration of St. Vincent de Paul, AIC continues to embody his vision of serving Christ in those who are poor.
Today, AIC’s headquarters are in Brussels, Belgium, and the network brings together about 100,000 volunteers—mostly women—across 56 countries in Africa, Latin America, Asia, and the Americas. These volunteers dedicate themselves to addressing poverty and social issues with creativity, compassion, and respect for human dignity.
In Japan, AIC began in Kobe in 1999, followed by Wakayama in 2000, through the initiative and support of the Daughters of Charity. Since then, AIC Japan has been part of this global movement of solidarity, contributing to local needs while remaining connected to international efforts.
As a civil society organization (CSO), AIC is also a voice for the marginalized at the global level, working to ensure that the realities and concerns of those in need are not forgotten but are reflected in international dialogue and decision-making.
