What is Vincentian Family?
ヴィンセンシアン・ファミリーとは ?
The Vincentian Family is a worldwide network of people and communities inspired by the life and mission of St. Vincent de Paul (1581–1660). It is a fraternal organization that shares his spirit of love for God and service to those who are poor and marginalized.
While diverse in membership and mission, all branches of the Vincentian Family are united by the same charism: to see Christ in the poor and to serve them with humility, respect, and love.
In Japan, as in many other countries, the Vincentian Family continues the mission of St. Vincent through various forms of pastoral work, charitable service, and advocacy for those in need.
The Four Main Branches of the Vincentian Family. Often referred to as the “four branches”, these groups collaborate while maintaining their own particular character and mission:

Welcome to the Vincentian Family Japan Website

We warmly welcome you to the Vincentian Family Japan website—a space where we hope to grow together in faith, service, and communion as one family inspired by the charism of St. Vincent de Paul. This platform is meant to connect all branches of our Vincentian Family in Japan—the Missionaries of St. Vincent, the Daughters of Charity, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SSVP), the International Association of Charities (AIC), the Vincentian Marian Youth (VMY), and the Miraculous Medal Apostolate-Japan (MMA). Each branch has its own unique gifts, yet we share the same Vincentian spirit: a love for God made visible in serving those most in need.
Accompanying us in this journey are five priests from the Congregation of the Mission (CM), who are ready to serve as spiritual advisers for the SSVP and all Vincentian groups across Japan. In the Archdiocese of Osaka/Takamatsu, we are blessed with the presence of Fr. Amado Caballero in Tarumi Church, Fr. Cesar Pormento in Koshien Church, and Fr. Costancio Consulta in Kobe Central Church. In the Diocese of Yokohama, Fr. Rogelio Cardenas (currently on sabbatical leave) and Fr. Roed Desamparado, serving in Iwata and Kakegawa Churches, continue to support the Family—with Fr. Roed entrusted as the main spiritual adviser for the Vincentian Family throughout Japan.
As we begin this journey of connectivity and collaboration, may our shared mission continue to inspire us to listen to the Spirit, to walk with the poor, and to strengthen one another as brothers and sisters in Christ. May this space be a bridge of faith, hope, and love for all who visit.
Fr. Roed Desamparado, CM
